The Darbhanga Gita Govinda is the eighth in the series of monographs by Kapila Vatsyayan on the Gita Govinda and the miniature painting tradition of India. In the earlier monographs, e.g. Jaur Gita Govinda, Bundi Gita Govinda, Mewari Gita Govinda, Assamiya Gita Govinda, etc., the author examined assiduously the relationship of the text and the visual image.
